Singing Session – McCague’s Bar (5.30pm)

Saturday evening Singing Session

Some of Monaghan’s finest young traditional singer’s will host a singing session in McCague’s Bar on Saturday evening 13th Oct 2018 between 5.30-7.30pm. Among these are:

Caitríona Sherlock
19 year old Caitríona Sherlock is a student at UCD studying Music and English. Caitríona started singing at the age of 7 and has won many accolades while competing in Scór and the Fleadh, including winning the All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil in 2013 & 2017 . Caitríona has performed at the TG4 Gradam ceoil in cork opera house as part of “Our Dear Dark Mountain with the Sky Over It “ CD and the national concert hall with UCD philharmonic choir . She has been selected for a choral scholarship with UCD Choral Scholars for this coming academic year. In 2016 Caitríona was delighted to represent her county while singing Amhrán na bhFiann with the Artane band at the Ladies All Ireland Final in Croke Park. Caitríona has a great love for traditional singing and hopes to see it continue to grow in Monaghan.

During this informal singing session, Caitríona will share songs from the northern tradition and will welcome ‘singers from the floor’ to share songs from their own traditions also. The session promises to be an enjoyable occasion for singers and listeners, where old acquaintances may be renewed and new ones established.
